Annual Conference on Advancements in Chiropractic
Technique Tune-Up Workshop: Extremities Extravaganza
Credits: 13
Saturday, October 25, 2008 (9:30am-5:30pm)
Sunday, October 26, 2008 (8:00am-2:30pm)
Location: CMCC, Toronto
Every October, the Advancements Conference attracts practitioners from across Canada as well as internationally. Staged by the Division of Continuing Education, it provides the chiropractic community with current research presentations as well as clinical cases in a grand rounds format on a general theme. It challenges the diagnostic and management skills of all chiropractors through an interactive format presided over by a panel of distinguished practitioners.
This 13 hour hands on workshop will have technique experts demonstrate and teach you "what's new" in chiropractic adjusting techniques for extremities. The workshop will review specific palpations, diagnostic tools, examination procedures, adjustive procedures, and soft tissue analysis. Topics include manual extremity adjusting, low force procedures (Thompson, toggle and speeder boarders), soft tissue therapy (Graston, Myofascial Release), TMJ adjustment and soft tissue treatment, and vibration and compression for extremities (VMTX Therapeutics).

Nutritional Solutions to Managing the Cardio-metabolic Syndrome
Credits: 6
CMCC, Toronto
Saturday, November 15, 2008 (9:00am-4:00 pm)
Co-sponsored with: Nutritional Fundamentals For Health(NFH) and
The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM)
The cardio-metabolic syndrome represents a newly defined cluster of conditions that together increase your risk of diabetes, osteoarthritis, heart disease, stroke and cancer. These conditions include increased blood pressure, elevated insulin levels, excess body fat around the waist, or abnormal cholesterol levels. Having just one of these conditions isn't diagnosed as metabolic syndrome, but does contribute to risk of serious disease. This seminar draws upon world class nutrition experts who will focus on the multi-pronged approaches to dietary management of this complex disorder and its co-existing pathologies. The course will review: diet portfolio in the management of metabolic syndrome; case reports of diet and lifestyle-based management of Metabolic Syndrom; the role of adipose tissue physiology in mediating the cardio-protective effect of dietary restriction; dietary management of hyperglycemia; and probiotics and obesity – how good is the evidence?
