Ian MacIntyre, DC, FCCSS(C)
Assistant Professor, Clinical Diagnosis

Dr. MacIntyre is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Diagnosis at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. His professional experiences include working as part of the core medical team in the Canadian Professional Soccer League, Ballet Jorgen Canada, provincial and national level martial arts tournaments, and performance consultations with professional and amateur golfers, boxers and with members of the Triathlon Canada national team. After earning an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Sir Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo Ontario, he completed his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and a Fellowship from the College of Chiropractic Sports Science (Canada).

Dr. MacIntyre’s research interests are focused on the diagnosis and treatment of sport related injuries. He has contributed articles to the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association, Dynamic Medicine and other academic journals. Dr. MacIntyre teaches CD2301 Introductory Diagnosis and Orthopaedics II, and previosuly taught CE1101 Clinical Education, CE2202 Clinical Education, AN2202 Anatomy, AN1101 Anatomy and AC 3305 Clinical Management.

Robin Maunder, MSc

Laboratory Science Technologist/Instructor

Ms. Maunder is a Clinical Lab Manager for the Division of Clinical Education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. She was previously a Microbiologist at the Femingdon Medical Laboratories at Sunnybrook Hospital and later a Supplemental Teacher with the York Region District School Board. In 1975, she obtained a General Laboratory Sceinces/technology certificate from the Michener Institute. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Health Science at Dalhousie University.

She is presently a member of the Ontario Society of Medical Technologists and the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science. In the past five years, she has taught in the Clinical Laboratory Clerkship Program. She has also published in the Vilalink Newsletter for the Vitality Suites Health Centre.

Marion McGregor, DC, MSc, PhD

Dr. McGregor graduated from CMCC in 1980 and completed a Fellowship in the College of Clinical Sciences. She went on to earn her MSc in Medical Epidemiology from McMaster University in 1987 and a PhD in Public Policy and Political Economy at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2006.  In clinical practice for 10 years, Dr. McGregor has taught both at CMCC and at the National College of Chiropractic (now the National University of Health Sciences) in Illinois.

After moving to Texas in 1993, Dr. McGregor acted as a consultant in Research design and Biostatistics. She has published in a variety of journals and has acted as a reviewer for the Journal of Manipulative Physiological Therapeutics, the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association and the Journal of Chiropractic Education. In 2002 she was appointed to the Geriatrics and Rehabilitation Medicine Study Section for the National Institutes of Health and subsequently, the Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Sciences Study Section through 2005.

Dr. McGregor has been a recipient of research funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health, the National Institute of Chiropractic Research, the National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance Company, and most recently from the National Centre for Complementary and Alternative Medicine and CIHR.

Laura McLaren, DC
Tutor, Division of Foundational and Professional Education

Dr. McLaren is a Tutor in the Division of Foundational and Professional Education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. She was previously in private practice at the Birchmount Chiropractic Clinic and is now continuign her private practice at the Richmond Hill Natural Therapies clinic. After earning an honours undergraduate degree in Science from the University of Guelph, she completed her Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1996.

Dr. McLaren is a recipient of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College Cum Laude and Clinic Honours Award in 1996, as well as the Board of Goverors Chairman’s Award and the Governor’s Club Corporate Member Award for Service. At CMCC, she presently teaches AC3305 and CD 3304.
 
James Meschino, DC, ND
Associate Professor, Physiology and Microbiology

Dr. James Meschino is an Associate Professor in the Division of Foundational and Professional Education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He began his career at CMCC as a Research Associate and through the years, advanced his career to a Chiropractic Clinician and Supervisor of Chiropractic Interns at the Crossways Chiropractic Clinic in Toronto. He then was appointed as a Course Coordinator for the Second Year Nutrition Program and then the Fourth Year Nutrition Program. Prior to his current position he was a faculty member in the Division of Graduate Studies and Research. After earning a master’s degree in biology and nutrition at the University of Bridgeport, he completed his Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. In 2007, he graduated with a Doctor of Naturopathy from Canyon College in Caldwell Idaho.

Dr. Meschino’s research focuses on the complementary therapy for the management of common health problems. He has contributed articles to the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association, the Journal of Chiropractic and other academic journals. He teaches Nutritional Supplementation and Herbal Medicine PH 3407 at CMCC.

Andrew Miners , BPHE, BSc (Hons), DC, FCCSS(C)
Assistant Professor, Foundational and Professional Education

Dr. Miners is an Assistant Professor at the CMCC and instructs courses in diagnosis, orthopaedics, clinical education, and chiropractic technique. He has previously held the role of Resident Resource Clinician for the CMCC associated treatment clinics. In the past five years, Dr. Miners has taught CD2301 Introductory Diagnosis and Orthopaedics, AC1102, AC 2204 and AC 3306 Chiropractic Skills, AC3305 Clinical Management, CE1101 and CE2202 Clinical Practice, and AN1101 and AN2101 Human Anatomy.

Dr. Miners holds two degrees from Queen’s University; Bachelor of Physical and Health Education and Honours Bachelor of Science. He graduated with clinical honours from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic Collage (CMCC) in 2004 and was one of only two chiropractors accepted into the two year postgraduate residency program in Sports Injury Sciences. This program provided opportunities for Dr. Miners to mentor with top sports chiropractors, orthopaedists and radiologists. It also gave him the opportunity to work personally with top level athletes. He has traveled nationally and internationally acting as team doctor for Canadian representative soccer teams, the 2006 Ontario Junior Taekwondo National Championship Team, and the 2006 Canadian National Taekwondo Team. Upon completing the sports residency program in the spring of 2007, he was honoured by receiving an award/bursary for excellence in leadership, research, and teaching. In 2007 Dr. Miners became a fellow of the College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) and is an accredited sports injury specialist.

The top priority for Dr. Miners is to provide excellent patient care and to teach students to do the same; as such he is always striving to advance his clinical knowledge. He has completed the requirements to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a Certified Kinesiologist (CK). He is a certified provider of various soft tissue and clinical treatment techniques including; Active Release Techniques (ART), Graston Technique, and clinical/anatomical acupuncture. Currently, Dr. Miners is completing a three year advanced training program to become designated as a chiropractic rehabilitation specialist.

Dr. Miner’s research interests focus on the enhancement of sport performance. He is currently preparing articles for submission to several journals.

Dr. Silvano A. Mior DC, FCCS(C), FICC (Hon)
Special Assistant to the President Professor

Dr. Mior graduated from CMCC with a Doctor of Chiropractics in 1980 and received his Fellowship in the College of Chiropractic Sciences in 1984. He is currently enrolled in a PhD program in the Department of Health Policy Management and Evaluation, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. Dr. Mior is currently the Special Assistant to the President at CMCC, a Professor in the Division of Research at CMCC and has a private practice in Markham. He was the former Dean of Graduate Studies and Research and later was the Acting Vice President of Finance and Administration at CMCC.

His research interests are in the areas of clinical outcomes and program evaluation, health services, and interprofessional collaborative practice. He has served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractor Association, the Journal of Neuromusculoskeletal System, The Journal of Sports Chiropractic and Rehabilitation and other chiropractic journals. He has authored numerous articles and book chapters in areas related to clinical chiropractic practice and outcomes.

He has participated in international and national committees establishing guidelines for quality assurance and standards of chiropractic practice as well as setting research agendas.

He is a recipient of many awards and honours. In 1994, he was awarded with the Chiropractor of the Year Award by the Ontario Chiropractic Association, and in 1995 he was given the Chiropractic Centennial Award of Excellence by the Canadian Chiropractic Association. Recently in 2003 he was awarded with the Professional Service Award for Research and in 2006 the President’s Distinguished Service Award.
He is currently seconded to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) as a senior clinical consultant. H has been working on a research project funded by the MOHLTC and the Primary Health Care Transition Fund to develop and implement a model of collaboration between chiropractors and physicians in the community primary care setting.

Robert Moore
Associate Professor, Pathology and Micriobiology

Dr. Moore is an Associate Professor in the Division of Biological Sciences at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He is also a consultant at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and was a consultant at the Ontaro College of Homeopathic Medicine. He was previously the Acting Head of the Biochemsitry Department at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and later an Associate Professor at the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. After earning a undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Leeds University in England, he completed a PhD at. Leeds University. His doctoral thesis was titled “Studies on the neutral peptidehydrolase activity of mammalian liver”.

Dr. Moore’s research focuses on the biochemistry of sports. He has contributed articles to the Journal of Applied Physiology, Clinical Biochemistry, Canadian Medical Association Journal, Enzyme, Journal of Applied Physiology and several other academic journals. He also served has a Chairman for the Ontario Ministry of Health’s Test Review Committee for the Quality Management Program, has been the Secretary for the Toronto and District Society of Clinical Chemist’s Association and is currently on the Academic Promotions Committee at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

Emily Morton, DC

Dr. Morton is a Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. She was previously in private practice at the European Health Care Centre in North York and was later an Assistant Professor at the Foundational and Professional Education in the Division of Graduate Studies at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. After earning a undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Western Ontario, she completed a Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and a Fellowship from the College of Chiropractic Sciences (Canada).

Dr. Morton’s research focuses on musculoskeletal pain nad injury of dancers. She has contributed articles to the Acta Orthopaedica, Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and other academic journals and proceedings. Her research has been funded by the Hannah Institute for the History of Medicine and the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

She is a recipient of the William Kirkaldy-Willis Award, the Mark A King Memorial Award in Radiology, the Award of Excellence from the Foundation for Spinal Research, the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners Award, the John M Wallace Memorial Scholarship, and the Governors Club Corporate Members Award.

Brad Muir, DC

Dr. Muir is an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Education Division at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He completed a Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and a Sport Sciences Fellowship at the College of Chiropractic Sport Sciences in Calgary. Prior to attending chiropractic college, Dr. Muir earned an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo and worked for seven years as a clinical and occupational kinesiologist, and Clinic Director with the Sports and Injury Rehabilitation Clinics in St. Catharines and Niagara Falls and the Columbia Rehabilitation Centre in Burlington Ontario. Dr. Muir earned a diploma in Acupuncture at the Centre for International Holistic Studies in Stony Creek, Ontario.

Dr. Muir has been a recipient of the Chiropractic Sciences Award, and the Governor’s Club Corporate Members Award as an undergraduate at Chiropractic college. He is currently the Chair of the Appeals Committee at CCSS and is on the Fellowship Committee for the same organization. In 2006, he was part of the medical staff for the World Championships Dragonboat Club Crew Challenge and prior to this the team Chiropractor for the Windsor Firefighters Combat Challenge Team’s World Championships. At the same time, he was also part of the medical staff for the WTF Tae Kwon Do Association of Canada Carding Games.the University of Toronto Men’s Ice Hockey team, and the Ontario Cup Trampoline Tournament. Dr. Muir maintains a private practice in Pickering and Ajax, Ontario and previously in Orillia, Ontario. Dr. Muir’s research focuses on concussion, proprioception, and various sports injuries. He is currently writing articles to submit to a academic journal.

Jason Pajaczkowski, DC

Dr. Jason Pajaczkowski is an Associate Professor in the Division of Clinical Sceinces at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He was previously a Sport Science Resident at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and is now the Chiropractor for the Toronto Phatoms Professional Football Club, a Director for the Sports Performance Centres, the Medical Director of the Markham Islanders Jr. A Hockey Club, the Medical Director for the Vaughan Vipers Jr. A Hockey Club and the Doctor for the Team Canada Hockey Club (Paralumpic). After earning a undergraduate degree in Life Science from Queen;s University and a Bachelor of Science in Human Anatomy from the National Colleg of Chiropractic in Lombard Illinois, he completed his Doctor of Chiropractic from the same institution and a Fellowship from the College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences and another Fellowship from the College of Chiropractic Rehabilation Sciences.

Dr. Pajaczkowski’s research focuses on rehabilation of sports injuries. He has contributed articles to the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractor Association, the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics and other academic journals and books. He is a recipient of the Drs. Edgar Bella and J.O. Houle Award, the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award as well as the “Who’s Who in American Universities” Award. He currently sits on the Promotions and Benefits Sub-Committee at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

Cosma Pecora, DC
Assistant Professor, Applied Chiropractics

Dr. Pecora is an Assistant Professor at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, an Insurer Evaluator for the Workable Centres and Riverfront Medical Services, the owner of his own private practice at the Orthofit Sports Injury and Rehabilitation Centre in Woodbridge Ontario and Chiropractor and Owner of the Chiropractic Clinic also in Woodbridge. He was previously a part-time Chiropractor at the Westside Chiropractic Clinic and later a Coordinator of the Chiropractic and Sports Injury Program for Undergraduates at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. After earning a undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Toronto, he completed his Doctor of Chiropractor Cum Laude at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, a Fellowship from the College of Sports Sciences, and additional Fellowship at the College of Rehabilaition Sciences and a certification in Acupuncture.

Dr. Pecora’s research focuses on sport injury prevention. He has contributed articles to the Toronto Marlboro Atom Hockey team Magazine. He is a member of the Canadian Chiropractic Association, the Ontario Chiropractic Association and the History of Chiropractic. In the past five years, he has taught AC1101 Conditioning in Sport, AC305 Clinical Management, and 100I Level Athletic and Peripheral Injuries Management at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

Kelly Pennell, DC
Tutor, Applied Chiropractics

Dr. Kelly Pennell is aTutor for the Division of Applied Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. She was previously a First Aid Instructor for the Canadian Red Cross and later a Health Columnist for the Snap Guelph Newspaper. After earning a undergraduate degree in Sceince from McMaster University, she completed a Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2005. She is presently enrolled in the Masters of Rehabilitation Sciences program at McMaster University and is completing her fellowship at the Chiropractic College of Rehabilitation Sciences.

Dr. Pennell’s research focuses on rehabilitation. She has contributed articles to the Canadian Journal of Botany and Canadian Chiropractor. She is also a member of the Canadian Chiropractic Association, the Ontario Chiropractic Association and the Canadian Chiropractic Protectic Association.

John Pikula, DC
Associate Professor, Clinical Diagnosis

Dr. John Pikula is a Associate Professor in the Division of Chiropractic Clinical Sciences at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. In addition to having a private practice since 1978, he is also a Chiropractic Evaluator at the Health Impact Clinic in Mississauga and North York and at the Mississauga Physical Rehabilitation Centre. He is also the Director of the Brantford Physical Rehabiliation Centre and of the Designated Assessment Center. After earning a undergraduate degree in Science at the University of Waterloo, he graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1978. In 1983, he then went on to complete his Masters in Science at the University of Bridgeport, and his fellowships in radiology, chiropractic sciences, nutrition and chiropractic orthopedics.

Dr. Pikula’s research focuses on case studies of diverse conditions amenable to chiropractic. He has contributed several articles to the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association. Since 1999, he has been serving on the board of editors for the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association and the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine. He is also a board member at the College of Chiropractic Orthopedists and is Chair of the Continuign Education of the Canadian Soceity of Chiropractic Evaluators..

Howard Platnick, DC
Assistant Professor, Clinical Diagnosis

Dr. Howard Allen Platnick is an Assistant Professor for the Division of Chiropractic Clinical Sciences at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He is also a Supervisor and Tutor at the University of Toronto and a Medical Director and Family Physician for a Family Walk-In Clinic in Willowdale. After earning a undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, he completed his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Faculty of Medicine University of Toronto in 1987.

Dr. Platnick’s research focuses on telelmedicine specifically computer applications in plastic surgery. He has contributed articles to the International Journal of Bio-Medical Computing and the University of Toronto Medical Journal. In 2007, he received a Certificate of Honour from North York General Hospital, and in 2004/2005 he received the Outstanding Contribution to Teaching Award to Family Medicine Electives Teaching. In 1995, he was recipient of the Second Prize Award from the Chiropractic Foundation of Spinal Research. In 2007, he sat on the American Board of Forensic Professionals.

Mike Poschar, DC
Tutor, Applied Chiropractics

Dr. Mike Poschar is a Tutor for the Department of Applied Chiropractic Studies at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. In addition to his own private practice at the Active Health Centre, he is also a certified ART® Provider of upper limb, spine, lower limb, long tract and nerve entrapment, as well as a registered Trigenics® practitioner. He is currently the team doctor for the Markham Waxers provincial junior “A” hockey team and works as medical provider for a number of other sports teams in his community. After earning an honours undergraduate degree in kinesiology, he graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

Dr. Poschar’s research focuses on conditions amenable to chiropractic. He has contributed articles to the BMC Medical Education Journal and several other academic journals. He is also a member of the Ontario Chiropractic Assocation, the Canadian Chiropractic Association and the CCPA.
