CMCC’s commitment to enhancing our educational programs and facilitating chiropractic research, is reflected in our campus at 6100 Leslie Street in Toronto. The move to our new facility in 2004 was one of the most significant developments in the history of chiropractic in Canada, providing excellent facilities and a showcase for our profession for years to come. It encompasses in one building all of our educational and research needs – including fully equipped laboratories, radiology facilities, teaching and rehabilitation clinic, specialized health care library, and one of only nine anatomy labs in the country.

Books, journals, and multimedia resources are available to students, faculty, staff, and practitioners. These collections support and supplement teaching, learning objectives, and scientific investigation and research. Listings of all books, print journals, and multimedia are accessible through the in-house online catalogue and may be searched by author, title, subject, call number, and key word.

The main reading room contains current journals, the reference collection, the audiovisual collection and workstations for accessing the library’s online catalogue. A silent study area is located on the mezzanine level while three group study rooms allow students to engage in interactive group learning. The library also houses two multimedia rooms for viewing audiovisual materials.

Internet accessible computers in both the student computer centre and in the reference area allow access to our various subscription databases, as well as to email and other web-based resources. Our EBSCO databases include: MEDLINE, Alt HealthWatch, AMED, Biomedical Reference Collection, CINAHL, DynaMed, Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, and SPORTDiscus. Our other databases include: images.MD, The Cochrane Library, Natural Standard, MANTIS, Anatomy.tv, and Index to Chiropractic Literature. These online resources currently include access to over 2,000 full text online journals.

Audiovisual services are available to students, faculty, and chiropractors and include the use of computer software, audiovisual resources, audiovisual equipment, and production of non-print materials (slides, photos, student ID cards, computer-generated graphics, DVDs, CD-ROMs, and videos).

A reference librarian is available for instruction and assistance Monday to Friday. A research service, to which a fee may apply, is also available.

Photocopiers are available in the library photocopying room. CMCC has a license agreement with ACCESS, the Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency, to cover student and faculty photocopying on campus. Library photocopier users are reminded to abide by the posted copyright legislation. 
 

Supply Centre & Bookstore
The CMCC Supply Centre and Bookstore welcomes students, staff, health care practitioners and the public with an extensive selection of chiropractic and health related products. It carries all textbooks and manuals for classes as well as reference and general interest books. It carries all chiropractic office supplies such as adjustment tables, supports, pillows and gowns, x-ray supplies and anatomical models. It carries sports medicine and rehabilitation supplies, and clothing. The Supply Centre & Bookstore a division of the College, and all revenue generated is returned to support CMCC and chiropractic education.

Clinics
In Years I, II and III, students receive almost 3,000 hours of education and hands-on clinical training. In Year IV they apply this knowledge in a real clinic setting as chiropractic interns in CMCC’s teaching clinics, under the supervision of clinical faculty. In addition to our on-campus walk-in clinic, CMCC has a network of external chiropractic clinics throughout the Greater Toronto Area. These community based clinics give our students and interns a broader clinical experience with more focused patient populations, including Toronto’s urban aboriginal community, adults and children who are behaviourally, mentally and physically challenged, and patients with HIV/AIDS. Laboratory Facilities
Biochemistry, Microbiology, Laboratory Diagnosis – In this laboratory, equipment for teaching biochemistry, microbiology, and clinical laboratory courses includes:

• instrumentation for spectrophotometry and electrophoresis utilized in biochemistry laboratory exercises;
• facilities for the isolation and identification of microorganisms by means of culturing, preparing slides, staining, microscopy, and serology;
• a wide variety of charts, special guides, blood drawing equipment, various types of diagnostic test kits, and prosthetic arms which are unique to Laboratory Diagnosis.

Histology and Pathology Laboratory – This facility is equipped with laboratory tables, microscopes, digital microscopic projection and video monitors which are shared by the two disciplines. Various sets of specially produced microscope slides and videotapes are provided for each field of study. Gross pathological specimens are also utilized in case discussion and tutorial settings.

Human Gross Anatomy Laboratory – Within the Anatomy Laboratory, students are provided with equipment necessary for the dissection of human cadavers. Each table is equipped with disarticulated skeletal components, a dissection guide, and an atlas of human anatomy. Fully articulated skeletons, X ray view boxes, and a number of gross anatomy and neuroanatomy prosections are available for student review. Video monitors are used in the dissection lab for prelab presentations.

Psychomotor Skills and Clinical Diagnosis Laboratories – These laboratories are equipped with chiropractic adjusting tables, posture measurement equipment, X ray view boxes, audio visual equipment (which includes closed circuit television), and the necessary hygienic facilities.

Radiology Film Reading Laboratories – The film reading laboratories are equipped with view boxes and house the collection of normal and abnormal radiographs for student viewing and study. These labs are also used for the practical, problem solving film reading sessions with faculty and weekly self-assessment exercises.

Radiology Physics and X-ray Positioning Laboratory – Three X-ray machines with related equipment are set up in this lab for students to practice their radiographic positioning. These machines function as regular X-ray machines in every way, other than delivering ionizing radiation. Additionally, a faxitron is housed in this lab for taking radiographs of specimens.

Research Facilities
On campus laboratories allow fundamental and basic science research to investigate mechanisms underlying health, and the neurophysiology, prevention and pain treatment methods offered to the public. Collaborative arrangements with individual university researchers have also enabled some CMCC research faculty to participate in studies in laboratories outside of CMCC. Informational Technology (IT) Department
As a student you will be provided with a personalized @cmcc.ca e-mail address which you can access from the Internet, inside or outside of CMCC. You will also have private login and password access to the student and employee section of the MyCMCC website. And you will have 100 MB of storage space on the network, which you can access remotely through the CMCC portal.

The IT Helpdesk is available for assistance with email, MyCMCC access, file storage, setting up wireless access on laptops, issues related to computers, copiers and printers, and general questions about CMCC’s computing and telecommunication environment.

We use Moodle (Modular Objective-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment), a sophisticated virtual classroom that allows online classes, discussion groups and document sharing.
